Job Summary

Job Description

The Nuclear Equipment Operator is responsible for operating station equipment and systems in accordance with Administrative, Procedural, and Regulatory requirements. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

•Inspect assigned equipment, complete documentation associated with these inspections, and adjust equipment as necessary for proper equipment and system operation. 

Monitor trends in equipment performance and inform control room of any unexpected indications. 

Identify and initiate actions for material condition issues. 

•Perform the initial actions required in response to an off-normal condition, and perform follow up actions as directed 

Identify and correct any abnormal conditions, hazards to personnel or equipment, or challenges to continuous service, if possible, and report any findings to the Control Room. 

•As a member of the site Fire Brigade, perform firefighting, rescue, first aid and chemical spill response activities. 

•Perform surveillances and special test activities 

Operate equipment to monitor and process equipment drains.  

•Satisfactorily participate in a continuing training program structured to maintain and enhance job proficiency Skills/Knowledge/Experience 

 

Minimum background and knowledge requirements: 

•High School Diploma, or GED equivalent required. 

•Good computer skills 

•Good written and verbal skills 

•Strong teaming skills 

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: 

•Must be able to climb stairs, work above and below ground, and lift loads up to fifty pounds 

•Must be able to wear a respirator 

•Must be able to be a Radiation Worker 

 

Applicant will be required to successfully complete the following to be considered for the position: 

•Plant Operations System Selection (POSS) test 

•Fire Brigade physical 

•Requisites to obtain unescorted access to the power plant, which include: psychological examination, drug screen, and security background check.
