Typical Tasks Include:
  • Inspecting the building, fixtures, equipment, and outdoor areas for maintenance needs
  • Performing installation, construction, repair, and modifications of building systems
  • Estimating materials and determining tools or support equipment needed for each job
  • Conducting indoor maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical work
  • Performing outdoor maintenance such as concrete work, roofing, and structure repair
  • Maintaining logs, activity reports, and other required documentation
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. Special skills or equipment certification may be required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of six months of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.


Preferred Qualifications    
Experience using any type of computer generated work order system a plus
