The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is seeking a dynamic leader with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with front-line staff, community partners, and leaders to bring about system change and process improvements as one of our Benefit Programs Managers.
What You Do and How You Do It:
As the Benefit Programs Manager, you will lead and manage key initiatives related to program development, process improvement, and quality assurance. Your work will directly impact how services are delivered to the community, ensuring they are efficient, consistent, and aligned with the agency’s mission. You’ll collaborate closely with supervisors to promote seamless service delivery and foster strong cross-team communication. A major part of your role will involve setting and reinforcing consistent performance expectations, while also evaluating and refining processes to improve outcomes. Using data as a foundation, you’ll regularly assess program effectiveness, interpret findings, and share insights that drive informed decision-making. You’ll also provide ongoing training and education to staff and supervisors, ensuring everyone is equipped with the latest best practices and policy updates. In this role, you’ll build and maintain strong partnerships with both internal teams and external stakeholders, always acting in the best interest of the agency and the citizens we serve. You’ll model the department’s vision and leadership philosophy, delivering exceptional customer service and leading change with confidence and clarity. You’ll also be responsible for preparing reports, responding to inquiries, and ensuring that both you and your team have a clear and actionable professional development plan. As a key member of the Benefit Programs Leadership Team and the Agency-wide Leadership Team, you’ll provide direct leadership to three Benefit Programs Supervisors and play a vital role in shaping the future of service delivery. Here's What You Need:
We’re Looking for Ideal Candidates Who Have:
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.
This position is a manager for an Emergency Shelter Team during times of natural disaster, reporting to shelter duty and managing the activated team as required.
