Viasat’s Global Security team is seeking an on-call Security Assistant to support our Corporate Headquarters in Carlsbad, CA. This role plays a key part in protecting our people, assets, facilities, and sensitive information—critical elements of Viasat’s comprehensive security program.

The day-to-day

• Direct and escort vendors, contractors, and other visitors throughout the campus
• Provide security oversight of contractor activities and maintain situational awareness for the Security Operations team
• Understand, follow, and enforce Viasat’s security and access control policies
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously and effectively with a diverse range of individuals
• Follow detailed instructions and execute assigned tasks with precision
• Exhibit strong situational awareness and sound judgment
• Deliver excellent customer service to employees, guests, and partners
• Candidates demonstrating strong performance and reliability may be given exposure to additional duties within physical, administrative, information, and cyber security operations

What you'll need

• Flexibility to work variable hours and on an as-needed basis to support operational requirements—ideal for individuals who are retired, attending school, or seeking supplemental income

• High School Diploma or GED

• U.S. Citizenship

• Valid California driver’s license

• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance

• Ability to work out of the Carlsbad, CA office location 

This position includes operation of a company vehicle and will require a valid driver’s license and compliance with the Viasat Vehicle Driver Policy.  A detailed Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) assessment will be required as part of Viasat’s pre-employment screening.

It is an essential function of the position that the employee meets the requirements of Viasat’s driver program.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document incidents clearly and concisely
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Open availability to support day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as needed

Salary range

$14.18 - $22.6 / hourly. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $17.79 - $26.44/ hourly
