What you'll do
As a member of the HPCC IT team, you will contribute to the design, architecture, end to end deployment in mixed environment of Linux and Windows operating system with a primary emphasis in Linux both on-premise data centers and in the public cloud. The primary role will be to support the various Viasat engineers in our existing business and as we continue to grow and deploy new services globally.
The day-to-day
Your duties will cover a large array of tasks from installing server operating systems to designing and implementing Linux focused enterprise level applications and clusters. You will be tasked with the support of operating systems issues, fixing, solving, and maintaining servers and applications problems. The role will require you to work remotely on systems located globally throughout the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have a strong systems administration background focusing on Linux, with scripting and automation experience.
What you'll need
- AWX/Ansible playbook creation, resolving problems.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitLab runners, etc.
- Vast experience of system administration in the following operating system RedHat 7+ (and associated flavours), Ubuntu 20, Windows Server 2016 fixing issues.
- Strong understanding of Network File System (NFS) server and client, TCP/IP, DNS, CIFS/SAMBA, Linux Logical Volumes
- Develop scripts for automating routine tasks (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Hands-on experience working with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
What will help you on the job
- 5+ years of hands-on experience of system administration of Linux and Windows operating system.
- Canonical Metal As A Service (MaaS) deployments
- HPC Schedulers (Grid Engine/SLURM/LSF)
- Public cloud deployments & support with automation
- AWS EC2, FSx, VPC, Global Load Balancers
- Support and resolving containerized workloads via Docker
- Experience supporting and deploying industry standard engineering tools and software i.e., Ansys HFSS, Ansys Fluids & Structures, Cadence Virtuoso, Xilinx Vivado, Mentor Graphics Expedition, MATLAB
- Dell PowerScale support
- Working with Dell R series servers
- Hardware OOB management (iDRAC/iLO) understanding
