 We are currently seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our dynamic team in Piove di Sacco (PD), Italy!

 Vertiv is looking for a Mechanical CAD Design Engineer to be part of the Thermal Management mechanical Design team within the R&D Department, based in Piove di Sacco (PD) - Italy. He/She will be mainly focused on the floor mount/chiller products. 

 What kind of work will you be doing? 

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team on global products focusing on high performance, cost effective design and market leading innovation. 
  • To design new products or re-engineer existing ones, with a focus on the mechanical aspects (mainly sheet metal and piping), collaborating with suppliers, Procurement and Industrial Engineering, being aware of the necessary product marketing inputs.
  • To create and review product documentation (CAD drawings, specifications, bills of material).
  • Work in a structured company using PLM system to create items and managing the revisions.
  • To meet objectives of cost, quality, environment and time of execution, achieving the best trade-off between market and internal customer needs.
  • To analyze and resolve technical problems as regards products under his/her responsibility; improving, updating, reviewing the mechanical drawings according to the information from the Production, Procurement and Logistics departments, to simplify the assembly, reducing the costs and improving the quality.
  • A high level of experienced CAD skill combined with a good attention to details.
  • Availability to travel on request between the Italian HQ (base) and a production facility in Slovakia.

 

What will make you successful? 

  • Technical Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; 
  • At least 3 years of previous working experience on similar activities, ideally in the Chiller or HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) sectors;
  • Good knowledge of light structural work processing is mandatory;
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics aspects is desirable but not essential; 
  • Excellent knowledge of 3D/2D CAD & PLM systems, Microsoft Office tools, particularly PTC Creo. Knowledge of the management computer systems;
  • Knowledge of technical norms, company procedures of basic detailed lists;
  • Knowledge of technical drawings;
  • Good knowledge of Bill of Materials structure and, eventually, their configurations;
  • Capacity of taking decisions as for solving problems; 
  • English – good level – Written and spoken;
