$20-24/hour

Reports to: Buildings and Grounds Manager

Position Summary:
The Vermont law School has 22 buildings on 15 acres in the town of South Royalton Vermont. The General Maintenance Technician I is an important member of the Buildings and Grounds crew, responsible for performing a wide range of skilled building maintenance, repair and assisting in construction projects. The General Maintenance Technician I will assist with emergencies on campus and provide aid to staff, faculty and students as requested.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
-Maintain grounds in the summer
-Mow and trim grass, prune trees and shrubs, weed beds and building borders
-Plant and fertilize grass, flowers, shrubs, etc.
-Maintain grounds in winter
-Remove snow and ice from parking lots and sidewalks using shovels, snow blowers and plows
Salt and sand walkways as needed
-Complete snow removal and salting by start of student arrival, approximately 8:30am, when practical
-Pick up trash around buildings
-Empty trash cans and recycling bins
-Refill hand sanitizer and bathroom supplies as needed
-Mop spills and clean surfaces as needed
-Move furniture
-Maintain campus composting systems
-Light bulb replacement
-Preventive maintenance on heating fixtures
-Inspect and report problems in HVAC systems
-Routine plumbing
-Relocate offices
-Set-up and teardown for events
-Monitor, inspect, and operate fire alarm and sprinkler systems
-Interior and exterior painting and staining, including surface preparation
