About this role

Who We Are

Verily is a subsidiary of Alphabet that is using a data-driven approach to change the way people manage their health and the way healthcare is delivered. Launched from Google X in 2015, our purpose is to bring the promise of precision health to everyone, every day. We are focused on generating and activating data from a variety of sources, including clinical, social, behavioral and the real world, to arrive at the best solutions for a person based on a comprehensive view of the evidence. Our unique expertise and capabilities in technology, data science and healthcare enable the entire healthcare ecosystem to drive better health outcomes.

Description

We are looking for a talented and passionate designer to help define and bring to life a range of solutions related to Pre, Verily’s AI-native platform for precision health.

This role is part of our Platform UX team, a highly-collaborative group of designers, researchers, content strategists, illustrators, and accessibility specialists focused on:

Design foundations, including our Verily Design System, that enable rapid deployment of world-class applications for health professionals.

Configuration and operational tools for designing, configuring, and operating innovative care and clinical research programs.

Verily’s rapidly data ecosystem, including Workbench, our biomedical research platform that makes the world’s most scientifically valuable data discoverable, accessible, and analyzable.

As a Senior UX Designer, you will collaborate with other designers, researchers, product managers, software engineers, and data scientists to help to solve some of the biggest challenges in healthcare and clinical research. You will drive the end-to-end design process for one or more projects, from discovery through to detailed execution, with the opportunity to distill complex problems into simple, beautiful, and powerful interfaces. We strongly believe that professionals – even highly technical ones – deserve the same level of polish and care in their everyday tools that consumers do.

Please include a portfolio in online or PDF format when applying. Make sure to include a password if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the user experience for one or more product area, including designing interactions and interfaces, and planning/organizing the work of a small team of UXers.

  • Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, content strategists, and other domain experts to understand needs, influence product priorities, set design strategy, and rapidly iterate solutions.

  • Work with our engineering team to ensure designs are implemented effectively, and collaborate with them to find creative solutions when technical challenges arise.

  • Help grow our UX team culture through mentorship, contributing to our design system, participating in design critiques, supporting cross-team design initiatives, and evangelizing UX through your quality of work, communication, and user advocacy.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • An outstanding portfolio of thoughtfully designed products, demonstrating ability to work across the end-to-end product development process: from establishing strong UX strategy and conceptual foundations through refining the smallest details with clear rationale.

  • Bachelor's degree in UX Design, HCI, Interaction Design, or related field with 8+ years of professional UX Design experience in enterprise software, consumer products, medical devices or other relevant areas.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills; ability to communicate complex concepts effectively across a broad range of audiences, and galvanize different opinions around a shared objective.

  • Fluency with industry-standard design tools and practices, including Figma, along with the technical craft of designing accessible, responsive web applications.

Preferred qualifications

  • M.S./M.A./M.F.A. or other advanced degree in a relevant field.

  • Experience leading or managing UX design teams.

  • Past work on Enterprise products, AI, Data platforms, Healthcare, Medical services, or other relevant areas.

  • Expertise in interactive prototyping tools, including AI / “vibe coded” prototyping (Figma Make, Replit, Cursor, etc.).
