Join our People & Organisation (P&O) team and play a key role in shaping HR operations in one of VELUX’s largest and most important markets. In this role, you will be responsible for leading our HR Support & Payroll setup across two sites and ensuring reliable, compliant, and high quality services for employees and leaders across the organization. Meet your future team 

You will join our global P&O organization and step into the North/Southwest HR Support & Payroll Management Team consisting of four other leaders responsible for HR Operations in North and Southwest of Europe. Your team of 12 skilled and dedicated colleagues is situated at two sites in Germany: Hamburg and Sonneborn. You and your team are responsible for ensuring the delivery of smooth HR operations including high-quality and timely services, as well as ongoing execution of local projects and ongoing optimization initiatives.

As Manager, you will have clear responsibility for the German HR operations setup and play a key role in driving this development and translating global frameworks into effective local execution. To help you and your team succeed, you will collaborate closely with both local and global P&O colleagues including Payroll CoE and Workday Process Owners. More specifically your responsibilities include:  

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of HR Support and Payroll services across our two German sites
  • Leading and developing your team, fostering a trusting and collaborative work environment with high team engagement and a culture of optimization, learning and customer centricity
  • Ensuring stable operations through clear goals and expectations, resource planning, KPI follow-up and prioritization
  • Driving continuous improvement through process optimization, automation and digitalization
  • Ensuring compliance with German employment law, payroll legislation and internal policies
  • Managing and participating in internal and external audits as well as executing and implementing the recommendations and observations
  • Acting as a trusted advisor on local HR processes and policies 
  • Collaborating closely with HRBPs, CoEs and business stakeholders locally and globally

What you will bring 

You’re an experienced HR Operations leader with a strong understanding of German HR and payroll processes, who thrives in an international matrix organization and is motivated by building stable, efficient and compliant operations.

Moreover, we expect you:  

  • Have +5 years of experience in HR Operations, HR Services and/or Payroll in Germany
  • Hold a college or university degree e.g. within economics, business administration, HR, accounting
  • Have solid leadership experience and know how to drive performance through coaching, feedback and building trust
  • Have experience working with HR systems and payroll interfaces in a complex organisational setup as well as collaboration with external providers
  • Are results oriented and demonstrate a hands-on approach
  • Are fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • You will be based at our office in Hamburg and will be expected to join your team in Sonneborn at a regular interval in agreement with your immediate manager. In addition, the role requires occasional travel inside Europe.
