About this role

The Ophthalmic Technician Specialist works up patients for physicians that includes taking medical history, performing initial examination and completing diagnostic testing.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification at least at the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) level.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
CPR Must obtain Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Technologist (COMT) within 18 months of hire.

Experience REQUIRED:
Two (2) years of experience performing initial ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing.

Experience PREFERRED:
Four (4) years of experience in academic medical environment preferred.

Education/training REQUIRED: 
High School Diploma / GED

Education/training PREFERRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or related field.

Independent action(s) required:
Takes medical history, performs initial examination and diagnostic testing independently.

Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A

Additional position requirements:
Must be willing to work at all office locations.
