About this role

The Supply Chain Category Manager is responsible for supporting contract administration functions for VCUHS and its owned and controlled affiliates on behalf of the Supply Chain. Primary responsibilities include management of processes surrounding contracts and other documents submitted to Supply Chain for review, assessment with contracting compliance guidelines, and routing to the appropriate parties for approval and signature.

Under the direction of Supply Chain Leadership, the Supply Chain Category Manager serves an important role in mitigating organizational risk by requiring review and due diligence before advancing documents for signature.

Essential Job Statements

Drafting, reviewing, revising and analyzing contract documents. 

Advising customers on the individuals who must review and sign off on contract documents prior to signature. 

Maintaining and utilizing a current list of internal reviewers for certain categories of agreements. 

Ensuring that each document approval packet includes relevant supporting materials such as business associate agreements, fair market value and business justification, and leadership approvals. 

Administering systems and processes to track and manage documents submitted to Workday Strategic Sourcing for processing; and managing expectations and providing updates to clients including senior leaders on an as needed basis, navigating competing priorities and serving as a voice of the Supply Chain Department. 

Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of diversity equity and inclusion programs/initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health system. 

From time to time, as a core team member in the Supply Chain team, the Category Manager may serve as backup for Category Manager Seniors, Category Manager Specialists, and other team members to facilitate consistent office coverage; and/or perform other duties as requested. 

Additional duties may arise based on the organization's needs and evolving industry trends, it is important to understand this role will require flexibility and adaptability.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field 

Preferred Education: N/A

Licensing/ Certification

Licensure/Certification Required: N/A 

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certification in paralegal studies 

Minimum Qualifications 

Years and Type of Required Experience: >2 years prior experience sourcing and contracting (negotiating terms and conditions) functions 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Microsoft Word, and Excel. 

Cultural Responsiveness: Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias. 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Supply Chain experience with Lab and IT contracts, a plus. 

Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.  

Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May have periods of constant interruptions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
