About this role

The Biomed Equipment Technology Specialist provides technical guidance and mentoring for other employees in the department. This job coordinates special projects and performs specialized technical tasks. This job maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan and the Biomedical Technology Services Program.This job also performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of complex biomedical equipment.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of five (5) years experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience or military training may be substituted. Experience PREFERRED: Proficient in all skills required for a BMET I and BMET II (see BMET I & II Job Description). Education/training REQUIRED: HighSchool Diploma or equivalent. Education/training PREFERRED: Associate’s Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics or closely related field. Independent action(s) required: Conducts repairs according to procedures. Maintain inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies. Follows OSHA and TJC guidelines. Job duties may include the access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): May oversee staff in the absence of supervisor. May assist with orientation and training of new employees. Additional position requirements: On call Rotation and occasional weekend, shift rotations as work demands. Age Specific groups served: N/A Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs. Lifting 50-100 lbs. Activities: Prolonged standing, Prolonged sitting, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking Emotional: Steady pace, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change
