About this role
VCA Madera Pet Hospital is hiring for the position of FT Pharmacy Associate. We would prefer someone with experience, but are willing to train the right person. We are a high quality, face paced 9 DVM hospital in Corte Madera. We have 3 full time associates in our pharmacy whose time is devoted exclusively to processing, filling refills and new scripts posted during exams or procedures and reviewing instructions with pet owners. Our hospital has been serving the Marin County community for over 25 years. With the help of our pharmacy team we provide the best possible care to our patients. Our tight knit clinic team and local community make this a great place to call home.
Essential Functions:
Filling prescriptions: outside (online pharmacies, human pharmacies), in -house refills, and new scripts.
Submitting prescriptions for DVM approval
Handling controlled substances (VACSP permit eligibility required)
Using electronic medical records to review records, enter scripts, enter charges, etc.
Inventory management
Client education/communication
Qualifications:
Prior experience in a vet hospital or pharmacy is preferred, but not required.
We are willing to train the right candidate (even if they have no experience in a veterinary hospital).
Excellent listening and communication skills
Highly detail oriented
The ability to integrate new information into problem-solving
Compassion for pets and people—as well as awareness and understanding of others’ reactions
Proven decision-making skills
The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and be exposed to hazards associated with pets such as allergies, contagious diseases, noises, odors, bites, scratches, and animal waste
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
