About this role

Job Title: Inventory Specialist

VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking a part-time Inventory Specialist to join our team.

Position Overview:  The primary responsibility of this role will be to help manage and maintain the inventory of medical supplies, medications, and equipment within the hospital. 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies or shortages.
  • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate supply needs to prevent stockouts and ensure timely reordering.
  • Maintain proper storage and handling of medications and supplies, adhering to safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement inventory control procedures and protocols.
  • Utilize inventory management software to track inventory levels, generate reports, and analyze usage patterns.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of vendor relationships.
  • Train and educate staff on proper inventory management procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education opportunities, and other professional development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in inventory management, preferably in a veterinary or medical setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using computer software for inventory management and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to assist in clinical duties as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate care to animals and supporting the overall mission of the clinic.
