We are looking for a Purchasing Engineer to join a collaborative expert team where everyone has their own area of expertise and supports each other to succeed. In this role, you will work closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, ensuring the timely availability of goods and materials while contributing with your technical insight, especially related to drawings or welding-related components.

This position can be located our office either in Vantaa, Tampere or Jyväskylä in Finland.
You succeed by taking ownership of your tasks while actively collaborating with a team of experts around you. Your ability to combine independent work with knowledge sharing is key. A solid technical mindset, curiosity towards learning from others, and confidence in working with drawings or welding-related components will help you add value quickly.
We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles — practical behaviours that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:
Take accountability – Act with ownership, set clear expectations, and follow through
Lead with courage – Champion change, try bold ideas, and learn quickly
Build on trust – Listen to understand, be open, and create psychological safety
Collaborate for growth – Work across boundaries, value diverse perspectives, and focus on customer value
You will join a knowledgeable and supportive team where each member has their own expertise and helps others when needed. This role offers a good balance of independence and teamwork, exposure to an international industrial environment, and opportunities to develop both your technical and procurement skills. We offer modern tools, flexible ways of working, and a culture that values trust,
accountability, and continuous improvement.

We’ll use a variety of selection methods in the recruitment process, e.g. video screening, personality questionnaires, ability tests and interviews.
