Overview

This position will be physically located in Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

 

Under the supervision of the TMP Maintenance Supervisor, safely operates both conventional and flatbed tow vehicles, including driving, towing, and backing trailers using safety skills. Performs preventive equipment maintenance. Keeps and obtains all required records and documentation. Must be able to work alone, follow directions, and communicate appropriately with customers and fellow workers. Must maintain self and equipment by keeping clean, neat, and orderly. Responds to all request in a timely manner. Performs minor roadside repairs, flat tires, dead batteries, and vehicle malfunctions. Performs recovery of Commercial Lease Vehicle Branch (CLVB) and TMP assets as directed throughout the AOR. Performs evacuation of equipment to commercial and Government repair facilities, using commercial and military recovery vehicles. Performs on-site repair or recovery IAW technical manuals, commercial manuals, and safety and local policies. May perform duties as a mechanic and/or other duties as needed. Available 10 hrs / 6 days a week.


Responsibilities

  • Adhere to maintenance program production schedules and ensures all mission are executed on time and at the highest quality possible.
  • Assists with ensuring project goals are met and standards are maintained
  • Assist with the execution of the overall daily PMCS. Ensure current vehicle services and maximum utilization of equipment usage.
  • Track miles/kilometers and hours used for each piece of equipment.
  • Adheres to the key control program
  • Responsible for executing the prioritizing of shop work and appropriate teamwork
  • Implements and maintain a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority.
  • Communicates professionally, both orally and written.
  • Interacts professionally with the customer and other agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Recovery of vehicles.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Trade school, vocational school, vehicle recovery training, or equivalent.
    • Minimum of one (1) years of experience in vehicle maintenance at the worker, helper, or apprentice level.
    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Recovery Operator or Tow Truck Driver and one (1) year Vehicle Mechanic experience required. Progressive increase required based on skill level
    • Minimum of one (1) years of experience in vehicle maintenance at the worker, helper, or apprentice level.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
    • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.
    • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
