Work Schedule

Full-time, 100% FTE, day shift. Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, no weekends required. You will work at various clinics across UW Health in Madison, WI. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

We are seeking a Optician to:

  • Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
  • Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses.
  • Perform eye-glass repairs and adjustments.
  • Educate patients and families on proper eye-wear care.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program Preferred
 
Work Experience
  • Computer experience Required
  • Previous experience in customer service or eye care setting Required
  • 1 year or more Optician experience Preferred
  • 1 year or more of work experience with processing insurance claims Preferred
  • Optical lab training and/or optometric technician experience Preferred
  • Contact lens training or experience Preferred
 
Licenses & Certifications
  • Obtain American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification within 18 months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire and maintain the certification Required
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and/or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification Preferred
