About this role

These roles are responsible for the administration, preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and other health products to ensure safe and effective patient care. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in various settings, including pharmacies, the UVA hospitals, clinics, and research facilities.

These roles are responsible for dispensing medications, providing drug therapy consultations, and ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. Pharmacists collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient treatment plans, offer medication counseling, and oversee the preparation and distribution of medications in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty. Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients. May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills. Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience. This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. ​

Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education.​ Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. ​ Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation​.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy required. 

Experience: No experience required. PGY-1 residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred.  

Licensure: Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License or within 60 days of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: typing. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The starting base rate for this role is $55.67 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
