JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Utilities Station CDAS Operator (Evening Shift - Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM) to join our CDAS & Controls team. 

We are looking for someone with previous work experience utilizing Building Automation or Energy Management systems and operation and maintenance of HVAC controls, air handlers, steam and chilled water air conditioning and pumps; familiarity at a minimum is required. Detail-oriented with strong technical aptitude, computer proficiency, and excellent customer skills.

As a CDAS operator, you will monitor and control various university utility functions from a central location or call center using building automation energy management software. Operators dispatch staff to repair alarm conditions, contact customers during critical customer alarms and act as the campus call center after normal business hours (nights and weekends). Position requires shift work.

Work Location: Dallas Campus; 100%25 onsite, remote work is not available.

Shift Requirement: Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM; overtime when needed.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma or GED or 
    related vocational school. 
     
  • Experience
    No experience. 
    Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of controls, air handlers, steam and chilled water air conditioning and pumps is required. 
     

Preferred

  • Experience
    Previous Building Automation or Energy Management System experience preferred.

JOB DUTIES

  • Operates the Central Data Acquisition System, which consists of Energy Management Software from multiple Building Automation Systems. Monitors the utility alarms on campus and analyzes alarm conditions to determine course of action. Assists in remote trouble-shooting of equipment failures.
  • Using the EMS, operators remotely monitor and control the campus air handlers, exhaust fans, chillers, boilers, pumps, space temperatures, humidity, etc. Monitors critical customer equipment and freezers.
  • Dispatch appropriate shop personnel via radio or pager to respond to alarms that cannot be controlled by CDAS.
  • CDAS is the campus and University Hospitals call center after normal business hours. Operators will assist callers with a variety of customer requests.
  • Record all alarm events and customer calls into the Customer Request Log for work order assignments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
