JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance to one or more databases and electronic security systems in the management of Electronic Security for UT Southwestern Medical Center.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent 
     
  • Experience
    2 years of experience in technical work in an electronic security environment. 
     
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (DRIVERS) DRIVERS LICENSE If area of employment requires use of a University-owned vehicle, employee will be required to possess a valid Texas Drivers License, pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check, and complete drivers training (or van training, if applicable), in accordance with UTS Policy 157, appendix B, Upon Hire 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Performs routine preventive maintenance, testing, and repairs with respect to the campus-wide access control system, video management system, intrusion detection system, intercom/emergency call box system, and key management system.
  • Diagnoses and repairs routine electronic security hardware problems and/or refers complex problems to higher level Specialists, Supervisor, or another technical professional.
  • Assists with the inspections of installed security equipment and testing/commissioning of security systems.
  • Evaluates existing infrastructure for new security system additions and assists with producing associated cost estimates.
  • Assists in the review and design of new security systems. Consults with users to determine security needs. Works with building floor plans and site plans. Utilizes construction software to aid in the design of security related hardware plans.
  • Completes small installation projects as needed. May include programming of devices, configuration of software/hardware, demo of equipment as needed, and gathering and documenting obsolete equipment for disposal.
  • Installs software, personal computers, printers, and other peripherals as required, with a focus on security systems.
  • Maintains various logs and reports, such as hardware inventory list, repair/service records and equipment failure reports.
  • Submit/maintain/renew IR server registration forms for all security related devices that require static IP addresses.
  • Assists with badge station duties as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
