HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT


As a LEED Certification Reviewer, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping advance the goals of GBCI. In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering on-time high-quality technical reviews of LEED submissions for energy and indoor air quality compliance.  You’ll be responsible for driving key initiatives by using your industry experience, technical expertise and project management skills to work within a dynamic, high performing cross functional team to deliver certification. You’ll engage directly with project teams through written and verbal communication in alignment with our mission and strategic goals.


You’ll report to the Associate Director and be part of a collaborative team environment where your contributions will help shape impactful outcomes. You’ll work closely with teams like Technical Development, Technical Customer Service, and Operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on-time, high-quality technical reviews of LEED submissions for energy and IAQ compliance.
  • Analyze whole-building energy models, ventilation calculations, renewable energy and GHG claims per applicable LEED version.
  • Perform QA/QC of work by GBCI peers and subcontractors; follow internal guidance and review timelines.
  • Apply LEED requirements, ASHRAE standards, and energy codes; provide clear, actionable review comments and support process improvements.
  • Share knowledge and collaborate across the team; communicate effectively with project teams and owners via written and verbal channels.
  • Assist in refining GBCI programs, policies, plans, and credit/reference materials.
  • Assist in improving the certification review process using expertise, data insights, and user feedback.
  • Liaise with USGBC and other standards developers and technical committees.
  • Maintain current expertise by tracking emerging industry issues and trends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Experience 

  • Minimum 5+ years direct professional experience in mechanical system design, energy modeling, commissioning and/or energy auditing

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a field of study related to one or more of the following specialties:
  • Architecture (architecture, landscape architecture, interior design)
  • Engineering (mechanical, civil, structural)
  • Planning (urban/transportation/environmental planning, urban design)
  • Construction Management (or associated discipline)
  • Building Operations (facility management, property management)
  • Environmental Science (ecology, biology, environmental management)

 

Technology/System(s)

  • Microsoft suite of products
  • Energy modeling software

 

Skills

  • Experience with a variety of high-performance building projects, including LEED projects and/or specialization in a high-performance building attribute such as energy efficiency, water efficiency, and indoor environmental quality, etc. 
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications: architectural, envelope, MEP, controls, commissioning reports, and operational policies 
  • Detailed technical understanding of and experience with one or more of the following building operations topics: common construction methods, fenestration, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, electrification, demand response, etc. 
  • Detailed technical understanding of and experience with common environmental building codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, ASHRAE 55, California Title 24, IPMVP Vol. III, IESNA RP-33, ASHRAE 189, IECC, UPC, IPC) 
  • Field experience with HVAC, construction, building operations/facility management, or construction management preferred 
  • Demonstrated success with process improvement


Certifications

  • Professional license preferred
  • LEED AP required upon hire; with specialty preferred (BD+C, ID+C)

 

Language

  • English
  • Additional language proficiencies are preferred

Salary 

Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, qualifications, and employment status. Please note that salary negotiations will not extend beyond the top of the internal salary range.

Location: This position is remote in U.S.

 

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 9 AM to 5:30 PM in your time zone; need to be available for eastern time zones for mandatory meetings
