About this role

Leachman Cattle is seeking a forward‑thinking Feedlot Division Manager to guide the growth and success of its newest, essential division. This role is an exciting opportunity to build, influence, and elevate a function that plays a critical part in Leachman’s long‑term vision.

 

As the Feedlot Division Manager, you will oversee all aspects of feedlot service planning, processing, and delivery while applying strong business acumen to manage budgets and optimize operational efficiency. You will leverage forecasting and performance data to provide clear, consistent updates on animal well‑being, operational metrics, and key performance indicators to key stakeholders.

 

In this role, you will be expected to take a proactive and strategic approach to problem solving, decision-making, and delegating, including anticipating needs, identifying opportunities for improvement, and charting a course for growth. You will lead and develop staff to achieve established goals while fostering a healthy, collaborative, and positive team environment.

 

This position reports directly to the Chief Executive/Brand Officer and is based at our Meriden, Wyoming office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic operational leadership across all feedlot service, cattletomarket, and croptomarket functions, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining disciplined Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) performance.
  • Oversee highlevel operational quality, maintaining rigorous standards for processes, animal care, and finished outputs.
  • Leverage data and performance insights to monitor daily operations, streamline workflows, and drive continuous operational improvement.
  • Lead financial stewardship of the division, managing spending in alignment with approved budgets and collaborating with Finance on annual budget development and financial reporting.
  • Deliver proactive production oversight, analyzing actual vs. planned volumes, identifying trends, and elevating risks or opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Provide consistent, strategic communication through weekly updates to the CEO and close collaboration with the Production Team to ensure alignment on performance and priorities.
  • Develop and elevate a highperforming team, offering coaching, mentorship, and accountability to build a skilled, engaged, and growthoriented workforce.
  • Cultivate a strong, positive culture through effective communication, teambuilding efforts, and regular touchpoints that reinforce collaboration and employee wellbeing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in animal science, animal nutrition, business administration, operations, or compliance leadership field.
  • Seven or more years of professional experience in agriculture or livestock production’ preferably the feedlot and cattle to market processes.
  • Highly organized leader with the ability to manage multiple priorities, direct team focus, and maintain strong alignment across operations.
  • Skilled in evaluating and improving processes to enhance efficiency and reduce cattle stress while preserving data integrity.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills and successful experience collaborating with employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrates strong business acumen with proven budget management, cost control expertise, and meticulous attention to data, metrics, KPIs, and financial accuracy.
  • Analytical, dependable, and self-directed, with a track record of leading teams through change, driving continuous improvement, and handling sensitive information with confidentiality.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • A combination of desk time, standing and walking around the outside facilities. Heavy lifting as needed to process and feed cattle.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, lift files, and operate a computer. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
  • This position is based in the Meriden, WY. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Through bulls, females, semen, and embryos, Leachman supplies beef seedstock, commercial beef cow/calf producers, and dairies with genetics selected for increased profitability.  Additionally, Leachman provides data tools to aid producers in identifying the best genetics for their operation.
