Your Opportunity

We have an opportunity in a newly shaped Senior Asset Engineer/Planner role in our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group.

This role sits in our Integrated Planning team, who are essential in shaping the vision and objectives of our policies and servicing strategies. The team is responsible for building, adapting, and implementing plans for catchments, water supply zones, and data systems to define performance targets, establish investment pathways, and develop Strategic Business Cases - all driving an affordable, sustainable, and deliverable portfolio to achieve key objectives.

The Senior Asset Engineer/Planner is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of Asset Class Plans. You will lead project work streams to deliver engineering activities such as asset investigations, renewal scoping, data analysis and investment planning to support effective asset management. ensuring regulatory requirements are achieved through operational resilience, reliability, efficiency, and capability.

You will play a critical role in delivering a multi-billion-dollar capital works program, be contributing to sustainable solutions for Southeast Queensland’s water cycle, while also challenging engineering norms by committing to innovation to transform our water services for our customers.

Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Independently leads the development and maintenance of asset class plans to deliver service performance (and risk), safety, legislative, renewal, reliability, availability, maintainability, and climate change adaptation requirements in support of the catchment or zone-specific integrated plans.

  • Leads the development and maintenance of the Asset Strategies and Planning processes and manuals to achieving best-in-class asset management practice for Urban Utilities.

  • Drives the development and implementation of best-in-class asset management strategies to deliver operational reliability and optimise total cost of ownership for Urban Utilities’ asset classes

  • Proactively integrates across the enterprise to deliver asset integrity outcomes across all asset classes and promotes best-in-class asset strategies such as condition monitoring and reliability centred maintenance.

  • Work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to ensure a unified interpretation and implementation of asset management activities across the Urban Utilities asset portfolio. 

About You

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future and, ideally, have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:

  • Relevant general asset management experience in the water, energy, resources, or industrial sectors

  • You have a growth mindset and are highly collaborative. You will lead defined workstreams, influence stakeholders, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver outcomes

  • Technical leadership experience working across the asset management lifecycle specific to planning, concept, design, projects and/or operations and maintenance.

  • Experience in water and wastewater pump station and pipeline asset management including condition assessment, asset renewals, pipeline relining and slip-lining technologies.

  • Working towards or ability to attain Chartered Professional Engineer Status (Australia) and Registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in the future.
