Job Profile Summary

Serves as the Product Owner for Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions, responsible for defining and delivering secure, seamless, and scalable identity experiences for UPS customers. Translates business needs into actionable technical requirements and ensures CIAM capabilities align with organizational goals, compliance standards, and customer expectations.

Job Description

The CIAM Product Owner partners with stakeholders to define product vision, prioritize features, and manage the CIAM product backlog. Analyzes business processes and identity-related data to identify opportunities for improved authentication, authorization, and identity lifecycle management. Acts as a proxy Product Owner and subject matter expert for identity and access management, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical solutions.

Core competencies include requirements engineering, identity standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML), process modeling, and workshop facilitation. Communicates effectively through documentation and presentations to ensure clarity on CIAM enhancements and alternatives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Defines CIAM product roadmap aligned with business strategy and security objectives.
  • Contributes to business case development for identity initiatives, including ROI and risk analysis.
  • Monitors industry trends in CIAM, privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA), and fraud prevention.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Builds strong relationships with business, security, and technology teams.
  • Understands customer identity needs and translates them into prioritized product features.
  • Communicates regularly to ensure alignment and manage expectations.

Process Improvement

  • Identifies gaps in identity workflows (e.g., registration, login, consent management).
  • Collaborates with teams to implement frictionless authentication and adaptive security.
  • Measures and reports on improvements in user experience and security posture.

Technical Communication & Presentation

  • Creates clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria for CIAM features.
  • Prepares presentations on CIAM roadmap, enhancements, and compliance impacts.
  • Simplifies technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Building a Business Case

  • Articulates business problems related to identity and access management.
  • Assists in cost-benefit and risk analysis for CIAM solutions.
  • Documents and presents business cases for leadership approval.

Project Management

  • Develops and manages CIAM project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams (security, development, UX) to deliver features.
  • Tracks progress and ensures timely delivery of CIAM milestones.
