The role:
Council is seeking suitably experienced and motivated labourer to join our Roads Construction and Roads Maintenance (Works Delivery) teams. These positions play a vital role in the construction, maintenance, and upkeep of Council’s sealed and unsealed road and drainage network plus other related infrastructure.


The role involves a variety of hands-on labouring duties, including but not limited to:
 - Construction and maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads
 - Operation of plant, tools and equipment
 - Traffic control and worksite setup
 - General road and infrastructure maintenance activities
 - Working alongside an experienced team to learn and contribute to the delivery of visible outcomes in your community.
We welcome motivated individuals, including recent school leavers with some labouring experience, who are willing to learn and build a career in civil construction. Training and development will be provided to suitable applicants.


Successful applicants will have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Civil Construction and obtain their truck licence or plant operation certification as part of their employment.


What’s on Offer:
- A salary range from $1096.80 – $1228.40 per week (based on relevant skills and experience) + 12% superannuation + allowances
- A true 38 hour working week, Monday – Friday working week with the opportunity for overtime if desired.

What we need from you:
- A class C driver’s licence
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Willingness to work outdoors in a practical hands-on role
- Previous experience in road construction, maintenance or a similar labouring role will be highly regarded.
- A current White Card or willingness to obtain
- A current MR licence and traffic control tickets are desirable, as is experience operating light plant and machinery.

About Upper Hunter Shire Council

Upper Hunter Shire is located in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, about 250 kilometres north of Sydney. It is bounded by Liverpool Plains Shire and the Tamworth Regional Council area in the north, Gloucester and Dungog Shires in the east, the Singleton Council area and Muswellbrook Shire in the south and the Mid-Western Regional Council area and Warrumbungle Shire in the west.
