Join Our Team as a Patient Transporter – Part-Time, Second Shift
UPMC is looking for a dedicated Patient Transporter to join our team and play a vital role in delivering exceptional care. This part-time position works second shift (11:00 a.m. – Midnight), including an every-other-weekend and holiday rotation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Prior healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion in every interaction
  • Strong attention to safety and detail
    (Please note: This position is not open to students.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport patients and equipment between units and treatment areas
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, and medications promptly and accurately, ensuring proper handoff to nursing staff
  • Perform inspections and disinfect transportation equipment
  • Accurately record transportation data in tracking systems
  • Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a courteous, professional demeanor

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to successfully complete transport duties.
  • Competence in operating transport equipment safely and effectively.
  • May enter rooms where medications are stored or transport medications when accompanying patients.
  • Medication transport is limited to movement between departments only.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required, based on AHA standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components, within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (with renewal)
  • Act 33 (with renewal)
  • Act 34 (with renewal)
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)
