About this role

Purpose:

Join our dedicated Ultrasound Department as a Sonographer, where you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging to support patient care. We're seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative clinical environment and is committed to excellence in sonographic practice.

This position is eligible for a Sign-On Bonus of up to $10,000

  • Assist physicians during invasive ultrasound procedures, following universal protocol standards.
  • Accurately code, track, and archive exams using RIS and ISITE systems; ensure proper charge entry.
  • Perform high-level disinfection of ultrasound devices, supplies, and equipment as needed.
  • Clearly communicate instructions and procedures to patients to ensure comfort and cooperation.
  • Verify patient identity using two identifiers and follow universal protocol for all procedures.
  • Review patient history and physician orders to apply appropriate scanning protocols.
  • Document relevant patient history in the electronic medical record.
  • Conduct technical ultrasound exams to support diagnostic interpretation under physician supervision.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment proficiently, applying correct techniques for optimal imaging.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and departments to ensure efficient patient care.

Schedule: This position will work rotating days and shifts. They will be 8-hour shifts, with the earliest start time of 7AM and latest of 8PM. You will need to be available to be on-call. This position will also require you to travel between all locations, including UPMC Greene. 



  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • RDMS registered or registry eligible preferred.
  • Completion of Physics portion of registry preferred.
  • Must obtain Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) within 12 months of hire date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required within 30 days of hire/transfer.

     

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
