The 4M Unit has a large focus on teamwork and collaboration and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their patients!
This full-time that is part of the Weekend Program! Candidates are required to work 2 12 hour weekend shifts during nights. UPMC’s Weekend Program requirement, unit-based RNs in the program will receive an additional 25%25 added to their base rate!

The Registered Nurse 1 is a Registered Nurse (RN) and a member of the care delivery team. The RN 1 is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Registered Nurse 1 has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care- Manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Registered Nurse 1 encompasses professionalism, partnership, and collaboration. The Registered Nurse 1 establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Registered Nurse 1 demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:
The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
o BSN preferred.
o Basic Arrhythmia Class and Critical Care Class for ICU Unit
o Completion of an MNR Program, if applicable
o Minimum of 2 years of experience required
o Minimum of 6 months of continuous employment
o Must have received a Good/Solid/Strong on most recent performance evaluation and maintain a Good/Solid/Strong or higher to remain eligible for position
o Annual completion of a professional contribution OR UPMC approved nursing certification.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Current licensure a Registered Professional Nurse. NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for applicable units. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component.
NIH required within 6 months of hire.
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
