Job Description:

1. GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION

Position Name: DC Program Adjunct Instructor

Classification: Part-Time, Non-Benefitted

FTE: Less than 50% time

Work Hours: Variable

Department/Division: Multiple departments/College of Chiropractic

Supervisor: Dean, DC Program

Location: on-campus/remote (location varies by position)

2. POSITION SUMMARY

This position covers adjunct instruction for the DC Program. Courses may include those in the Chiropractic Technique, Clinical Education, or Basic Sciences departments.  Possible courses available include course in radiographic positioning, physiologic therapeutics, and foundational sciences.   

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares lessons and teaches procedures based on existing syllabus. 50%

Demonstrates and monitors student practice of proper skills technique and patient interactions (as applicable). 25%

Compiles, administers, and grades examinations. 10%

Maintains a safe environment in the classroom. 5%

Creates syllabi and course outline. 5%

Contributes to evaluations of students’ non-cognitive behavior. 2.5%

Maintains expertise in area of instruction. 2.5%

5. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education & Training

  • Prior teaching experience in a university or professional education program preferred

Certifications & Licenses

  • Graduate of a CCE-accredited Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) program. Not required for all courses. 
  • Maintain an active license to practice as a chiropractic physician in the state of Oregon (or acquire such licensure shortly after hire). Required for anyone teaching technique courses.

Related Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. 
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. 
  • Ability to access current electronic information.
  • Expertise in evidence-informed practice skills preferred

Other Qualifications

  • Have sufficient stamina to provide lecture and/or lab instruction with brief breaks over a 1 to 4-hour period.
  • Have sufficient mobility to move among students engaged in various types of lab activities.
  • Have sufficient visual acuity to accurately identify pertinent structures and/or details as instructional activities demand.
  • Have sufficient manual dexterity to operate pertinent tools and/or equipment as instructional activities demand.
