Job Description

Harborview Medical Center – Social Work has an outstanding opportunity for a Social Worker with the Ambulatory Care Clinics.

WORK SCHEDULE

Per Diem

Day Shift

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Provide social services to the more than 50 medicine/surgery clinics physically located on Harborview’s campus

Work with immigrant and refugee communities, including use of interpreter services with many patient/family interactions

​Provide direct social work services to HMC patients within assigned service area while adhering to the parameters of HMC policies and procedures and NASW Code of Ethics.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain working knowledge of community resources, processes, interventions, and requirements pertaining to assigned service area, including but not limited to:

    o Mental health crisis intervention

    o Suicide risk assessment

    o Interpersonal violence

    o Abuse/neglect of children and vulnerable adults

    o Crisis intervention

    o Substance abuse

• Provide skilled social work services to clinic patients of all ages, including but not limited to:

    o Comprehensive psychosocial assessment

    o Focus on harm reduction and trauma informed care

    o Systems advocacy and intervention

    o Brief interventions

    o Care management across multiple service providers as indicated

    o Grief counseling

    o Crisis intervention

    o Information and referral to appropriate community resources

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education

AND

One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent is preferred. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

Within 90 days of hire must hold one of the following credentials issued by the state of Washington:

• Agency Affiliated Counselor, or

• Licensed Social Work Associate -Advanced, or

• Licensed Social Work Associate - Independent Clinical, or

• Licensed Advance Social Worker, or

• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
