Job Description

The Harborview Medical Center Pharmacy Department is looking for an outstanding is looking for an outstanding Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team!

WORK SCHEDULE

• Per Diem

• Rotating/Variable shift

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

• Assist the Pharmacist in professional activities and assigned tasks including preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy-related functions

• All activities are performed under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in the IV room and compound IV medications in accordance with USP 797 standards.

  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.

  • Package medications in single-unit packages.

  • Restock shelves in the unit dose fill and front counter areas.

  • Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Manager.

  • Package patient specific medications in single-unit packages.

  • Perform bulk compounding of medication, under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

  • Triage clinical inquiries requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgement.

  • Answer inquiries not requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgement.

  • Fill medications for automated dispensing cabinet refills for the entire hospital

  • Handle, dispense and deliver hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 standards..

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience

LEGAL REQUIREMENT

State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification
