WORK SCHEDULE: Per-diem Variable hours In addition to UW Medical Center-Montlake, this Perfusionist includes privileges at Harborview Medical Center and the VA which will be about 10% of the position location DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: At the UW Medicine Heart Institute our acclaimed team of clinicians are pioneers in groundbreaking treatments of complex heart problems and experts in cardiothoracic surgery. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: Conveniently located near public transportation Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve Opportunity to provide career growth PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Independently responsible for the technology of extra-corporeal circulation associated with a variety of surgical procedures and cardiac management therapies Operate the heart and lung machine, temporary ventricular assist devices (VADS), Organ Care Systems (OCS), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenators (ECMO) Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to tailor the perfusion to the needs of each patient Utilize the appropriate technology to monitor and maintain patient parameters which includes the regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, urinary output, arterial and venous blood gasses, acid/base status, blood coagulation, temperature, and myocardial protection Constantly assess the mechanical parameters of the circuit Procedures covered include coronary artery bypass grafts, valve repair/replacement, aortic aneurysms, heart and lung transplantation, ventricular assist device surgeries, and extracorporeal life support REQUIREMENTS: At least two years of experience as a Perfusionist Current certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion within one year of hire. Graduation from an Accredited Perfusion Technology Program or approved program of Extracorporeal Technology.
