Job Description

The UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle, WA has a fantastic Medical Lab Courier opportunity with our Reference Laboratory Services (RLS) Team.   

 

Medical Lab Couriers play a critical role in maintaining a strong data-driven digital chain of custody for UWMC specimens. We pick up and deliver specimens and supplies for client locations within territory that runs from Vancouver, WA to Bellingham, WA. We operate 7 days per week from 6:15 AM to 2:30 AM, on 22 different routes from 3 locations - UWMC Montlake Campus, Our Northgate Office complex, and our Renton Central Lab location. This is a part-time (50%) position and the route travels between the Montlake Campus and Northwest Hospital.

 

Work schedule: 

  • Saturdays and Sundays
  • 1200pm - 10:30pm

What you’ll contribute: 

  • Works with bio hazardous specimens and adheres to "Universal Precaution" procedures.
  • Prepares all lab supplies needed to be delivered to client locations.
  • Drives the assigned route in appropriate amount of time.
  • Maintains accurate records of route stops and specimens transported.
  • Knowledgeable and adheres to UW Fleet Services rules and regulations.
  • Maintains University vehicle, as per protocol.
  • Utilize digital devices to manage daily pickups.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

What you’ll need: 

Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.  

 

Desired: 

  • Safe driving record as evidenced by provision of a minimum 3-year driving abstract.
  • Professional driving experience.
  • Experience handling bio-hazardous laboratory specimens and familiarity with universal precautions.
  • Experience with customer service relations.
  • Demonstrated success working independently with minimal supervision.
