The 10 bed Coronary Care Unit provides care for patients presenting with myocardial infarction, rhythm disturbances, decompensated heart failure, and post-resuscitation from cardiac arrest. Skilled nurses provide high tech – high touch care utilizing innovative technology, such as Tandem Hearts, LVADs, therapeutic hypothermia, coronary stents, Impellas, mitral valve clips, TAVRS, and more. The CCU is a current AACN Beacon Unit Award winner and has over 60% of eligible nurses with specialty certification.

UVA is seeking capable clinicians, focused on expanding knowledge and skills. Consistently providing effective direct care, as part of the interdisciplinary team, to a variety of complex patients. Manages care and implements treatment plans at a refined skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Assumes a beginning leadership role but seeks mentoring in this process.

UVA Health University Medical Center RN job duties and responsibilities integrate the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model.

  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications –  

  • Education:Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. 

  • Experience:1 year of relevant experience. 

  • Licensure/Certifications:Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. 

 

Physical Demands – Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. 

 

Compensation - 

New hire compensation will be determined by previous work experience, education, and/or experience. 

Onboarding Requirements 

Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. 

The starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
