We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join our high-performing IT team. This mid-level position requires extensive expertise in managing and supporting enterprise Linux environments, with a primary focus on Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu distributions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical capabilities in virtualization technologies, automation, and cloud infrastructure while providing critical support for tier 1 applications. Responsibilities

  • Expert-level proficiency in administration in order to maintain, and optimize Linux servers running Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu distributions across VMware virtualized environments
  • Monitor and manage system performance, security, and uptime for mission-critical tier 1 applications
  • Utilize Red Hat Satellite for comprehensive system patching, lifecycle management, and licensing administration
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HP hardware infrastructure, specifically HPE Scale Up 3200 and HPE blade systems
  • Manage and maintain cloud resources and services in AWS environments
  • Execute disk management tasks and utilize LVM for managing disks and file systems
  • Configure and manage networking services including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, and SFTP
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for systems, processes, and common tasks
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Technical Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of virtualization technologies, particularly VMware ESXi 8
  • Strong knowledge of automation principles and practices using Ansible and Terraform
  • Understanding of networking principles and network security concepts
  • Experience with ServiceNow for IT service management workflows
Technical Skills:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues efficiently with minimal downtime
  • Strong scripting abilities in Bash and experience with cron job scheduling
  • Skilled in implementing system CIS security measures and firewall configurations
  • Ability to manage complex Pure storage environments using LVM and snapshot technologies
Professional Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently
  • Excellent technical communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation and system configurations
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration capabilities across technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related discipline or equivalency.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience in Linux administration with focus on Red Hat Linux and Ubuntu
  • Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization environments
  • Familiar with HP enterprise hardware (HPE Scale Up 3200 and HPE blades preferred)
  • Candidates who can demonstrate their capabilities through a strong background of real-world projects and practical application of skills are encouraged to apply
  • Linux certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, or equivalent) are a plus and viewed favorably
