The MD Program trains the next generation of doctors by delivering a comprehensive learning experience to our students. In collaboration with Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) and MedIT, we are undergoing a transformation in Medical Education Information Technology to support a high quality teaching and learning environment. This major project has a two-year implementation horizon and will result in an integrated Learner Management System for both the MD Program and PGME. As a Systems Support Specialist, you will play a central role in analyzing complex data that requires great precision and attention to many details. Advising on data structure designs. Working closely with stakeholders, you will gather user feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of system functionality and reliability. In this role, you will also support configuration, coordinate training, participate in testing activities, document user requirements, and support effective knowledge transfer across theorganization.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering and supporting web-based applications and online systems, including probing for information from end-users to identify problems and capture needs
  • Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems, and training staff on new system features
  • Testing and advising on potential improvement to IT systems to ensure changes and customizations meet end-users' needs
  • Conducting detailed data analysis and generating reports to inform management decision-making
  • Developing, editing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for IT services
  • Conducting needs assessments to determine end-user technical requirements and providing consultative advice on IT issues


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum four years of experience in system and/or application support
  • Experience delivering training sessions in different settings (classroom, one-on-one, videoconference) and developing training materials
  • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures and drafting technical documentation for project plans
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing needs in relation to the development of business systems
  • Experience with implementing change management strategies
  • Experience with complex data analysis and reporting
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerBi or Tableau, MS Office (including the use of pivot tables)
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and strong inquiry skills; excellent presentation and listening skills, empathy, and patience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, having the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure or with competing priorities
  • Ability and inclination to keep one’s technical skills up-to-date and relevant
  • Strong analytical, systems thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment and respect for confidentiality


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience working in medical education
  • Familiarity with learning management systems such as Medical Student Information System (MedSIS), Repository of Student Information (ROSI), or other comparable systems
