Reporting to the Manager, Business Services, the Business Services Advisor provides front-line support for the day-to-day operations of the Financial Services Division, the primary client group for this role. The position supports unit managers on a range of complex financial matters and ensures compliance with the University’s Guide to Financial Management (GTFM).
The incumbent works as part of the Planning & Budget Business Services Hub (BSH), delivering responsive, service-focused support across financial, payroll, space, and other administrative functions. The role also provides back-up support to other Business Officers and their client groups within the BSH, as needed, to maintain consistent service levels.
A critical component of this role is the accurate and timely on-site support for cheque production, requiring a high degree of attention to detail, accountability, and adherence to financial controls. The incumbent is primarily responsible for processing financial and payroll transactions, such as invoice payments, journal entries, HRIS updates, payroll and appointment changes, and related records, in line with university policies and collective agreements. The role also includes on-site support related to facilities, equipment, and other operational needs.
