Description:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Building Automation & Operations, the incumbent is responsible for developing BAS surveillance schedules and objectives, tracking & reporting on BAS surveillance performance, working with the Senior Manager and the Building Operations teams to develop an alarm management strategy and reporting, direct the BAS Analysts in the review and interpretation of BAS data and trends related to HVAC control issues. Provide subject matter technical expertise on BAS controls, devices and control sequences when working with Building Operations teams and control technicians in troubleshooting, identifying and making recommendations to the Senior Manager and when directed implement control revisions required to resolve system deficiencies. Primarily responsible and accountable for Building Automation Systems (BAS) Control Room operations and the BAS setup qualifications.
Ensures automated equipment safety management, and automated occupancy safety systems are monitored, and notifications and alerts are properly dispatched following Standard Operating Procedures.
Actively participates in the University's campus-wide sustainability efforts, initiates and supports opportunities in collaboration with the University's Sustainability Office.
Provides input and assists in technical consultation, building operations management direction, building automation site standards, including design, installation and commissioning.
Interacts with the first level operations staff, and as needed to support customers & other departmental senior management, service providers.
The incumbent will also participate in or perform reviews of building automation and control system design, documents, construction and participate in commissioning functions on new or renovation construction projects managed by other University of Toronto departments. In accordance to Professional Engineering of Ontario rules and regulations as well as the Utilities and Operations general policy for department involvement in the review of construction projects.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
Degree in Electronical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or another related technical field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates must have their Ontario P.Eng. license and be in good standing.

While a P.Eng. designation is required, candidates who are in the final stages of obtaining their P.Eng. may be considered.
