Position Summary

The Moody Brain Health Institute at UTMB is seeking an outstanding candidate for a tenure/non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position, appointed in the Department of Internal Medicine specializing in Neurotechnology/Neuroengineering. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking scientist dedicated to advancing neurotechnology to improve our understanding of brain function, neurological disorders, and overall brain health. The successful candidate will engage in impactful research, teaching, and mentorship, contributing to the Institute’s mission to lead pioneering research in brain health.


Essential Responsibilities

·         Collaborate with faculty and research teams across disciplines, such as neurobiology, computational neuroscience, and biomedical engineering, to create groundbreaking neurotechnological innovations with real-world applications.

·         Engage in translational research that enables technological applications in clinical settings, with the goal of improving diagnosis, intervention, and treatment of brain and neurological conditions.

·         Actively pursue and obtain external funding from federal agencies (e.g. NIH, NSF), industry partnerships, and other funding organizations, through crafted proposal submissions to support independent and collaborative research initiatives

·         Work collaboratively with institutional offices and other researchers to secure funding for large-scale projects and initiatives, such as research consortia and center grants.

·         Present research findings at national and international conferences and participate in symposia and professional societies to contribute to thought leadership in neurotechnology.

·         Publish impactful research findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals in neurotechnology, neuroscience, and interdisciplinary domains.

·         Contribute to the academic and research community at the MBHI by participating in committees, peer review panels, and other service activities.

·         Train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in relevant research areas.


Minimum Qualifications

·         PhD in Neurotechnology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

·         Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and/or successful grant proposals.

·         Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.


Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience in innovation, technology transfer, or patents related to neurotechnology.

·         Excellent understanding of neuroscience methods, including, but not limited to, neurophysiology, neuroimaging, neuromodulation and neurodevices.

·         Experience or demonstrated interest in translational research aimed at clinical applications of neurotechnology.
