Purpose

To carry out tasks related to the move of library materials (trays of books, boxes of paper, oversized bound newspapers, etc.) from one warehouse space to another warehouse space at the Collections Preservation and Research Complex (CPRC) at the University of Texas Pickle Research Campus in North Austin.

Selected applicant must complete OSHA certification training within first week of employment. Training hours may be different than regular work hours, to be arranged.

Responsibilities

  • Operate order picker to retrieve and re-shelve library materials in storage areas (OSHA certification training provided).
  • Physically transport library materials from one storage area to another, using wheeled carts, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Update location information for all moved items in inventory system application using laptop or tablet. Also, record location information in paper log, as needed.  
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to follow directions closely.
  • Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform data entry tasks using a laptop or tablet.
  • Ability to maintain regular work schedule and to meet deadlines.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of work experience.
  • Warehouse work experience.
  • Direct experience related to job functions.
  • Demonstrated evidence of motivation and initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Salary Range

$31,200

Working Conditions

  • Work takes place in warehouse conditions.
  • Work at a height of up to 30 feet on order picker.
  • Use of a laptop or tablet for data entry.
  • Lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, walking, standing.
  • May work in extreme temperatures (warehouse is 55 degrees F).
  • Possible exposure to dust and mold.
  • May work around mechanical hazards.

Work Shift

Monday-Friday, 2 – 10:30 p.m.

Employment Eligibility:
