This Instructional Aide position is located at the BasePoint Academy in Frisco, Texas at the University of Texas-University Charter School.  This instructional support position is located at a partner partial hospitalization treatment center campus in a non-traditional alternative educational setting. This 194 days (traditional school calendar) position is from August 1st to May 31.  The salary will be spread over 12 months. The University of Texas-University Charter School is a public charter school and follows all state and federal regulations for public school services. The University of Texas-University Charter School is a part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education.  A candidate for this position will need to have a level III Educational Aide certification or be willing to complete within the first 90 days of employment.  

Purpose

Assist classroom teacher with instruction and supervision of students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision in the classroom in the absence of the teacher. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers when needed.

  • Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.

  • Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom. Provide approved behavior management and intervention, including restraints, as required.

  • Assist the teacher in collecting and maintaining student data, administrative records and preparing required reports. Assist with assessment as assigned.

  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.

  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.

  • Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher. Tutor students as assigned. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.

Required Qualifications

Educational Aide III certification. Ability to work well with children. Ability to maintain data on students. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. General knowledge of office equipment. High School Diploma or GED equivalency. Copy of high school diploma and OFFICIAL college transcripts from each college attended will be required upon employment. Educational Aide III Certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification within 90 days of employment. All positions at the university are security sensitive and a background check will be conducted on all new applicants hired. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

At least two years of experience working with special needs students.

Salary Range

$32,592+ per year, depending on qualifications
