 The Lentil and faba bean breeding program in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Saskatchewan requires four full-time summer students who will work as part of a research team to support various research and breeding trials.

Primary Purpose: Under the direct supervision of Research Staff, responsibilities will include taking data measurements in lentil and faba bean populations, plot maintenance, discarding seed samples, bag cleaning, processing samples, harvesting and other program-related tasks arising throughout the summer

Nature of Work: The successful candidate must be willing to work flexible hours when required and travel within Saskatchewan.  Must be capable of physical tasks, and able to lift up to 25 kg.  The successful candidate must be willing to work in the lab and outdoor environment, which will involve repetitive tasks.

Typical Duties or Accountabilities: This position requires attention to detail, an ability to work independently and the ability to contribute to a dynamic team environment.


Education: Undergraduate registered in Post-Secondary

Licenses: class 5 drivers license

Experience: Farm/greenhouse background and/or previous experience in a crop production/crop research environment would be a definite asset. 

Skills: This position requires a motivated, reliable and well-organized person to work in a group environment. Candidates must possess very good oral and written communication skills in the English language and hold a valid class 5 driver’s license.
