Primary Purpose: The Anatomy Laboratory demonstrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating gross anatomy and neuroanatomy laboratories in accordance with course, departmental and college objectives. Nature of Work: This position reports directly to the Chair of Body Bequeathal program. The Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator works in collaboration with faculty, laboratory instructor and laboratory teaching staff. This person will be responsible for the health and safety of other workers and students in the class labs. Considerable discretion is required as this individual is privy to and works with confidential student information. The individual in this position must effectively exercise professional judgement to deal with emerging and unpredictable events which could impact the department – faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students and student services and programs. Education: Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a medical school in Canada or the USA or Medical Doctor Degree from schools accredited and recognized by the World Health Organization. Additional anatomy-related degrees will be an asset.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Experience: This position is intended for a recent medical graduate whose career development would benefit from a period of intensive exposure in human anatomy prior to or during specialty training. Experience working in diverse and inclusive environments is required.
Skills: Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills is required. The ability to work independently, collaboratively or as part of a team with other laboratory staff is imperative. Working with confidential student information in a discreet manner is essential to the position, as is the ability to interact with persons at all levels of the Department from faculty and staff to graduate and undergraduate students.
