Compensation Range:

$69,326.00 - $90,124.00

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

With minimal direction and latitude for independent judgment, provides physical therapy evaluations, including standardized outcome measures, and care recommendations for individuals across the lifespan attending neuromuscular clinics. Performs standardized clinical outcome assessments, including measures of strength and function, with individuals participating in neuromuscular disease clinical research studies and clinical trials. Opportunities to participate in overall research processes including grant writing, study design, data analysis, data dissemination (presentations at meetings and manuscript preparation).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates the patients’ functional abilities and disabilities by tests, observations and information provided by family members, physician, nursing staff and others.
  • Plans a program of patient treatment related to diagnosis, prognosis, emotional needs or problems, patient’s environment, etc. working from physician’s order.
  • Instructs and counsel patients and family in the use of equipment and techniques. 
  • Evaluates home facilities and suggests need adaptations and resources in preparation for patient discharge.
  • Recommends, obtains and instructs on the use of adaptive and assistive devices. 
  • Ensures appropriate safety practices and maintenance of equipment.
  • Determines types and frequencies of therapies. 
  • Provides treatments using a variety of procedures and therapies. 
  • Recommends modifications of program as needed to physician. 
  • Maintains required patient and department records.
  • Keeps abreast of issues and changes in the field by reading and attending professional meetings and seminars.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in physical therapy required; Master's or Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Completed relevant clinical education in a comparable setting required or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Basic foundational knowledge of Physical Therapy Practice required.
  • Licensed in New York State required
