JOB SUMMARY/SPECIFIC RESPONSBILITIES

Issue Area Responsibilities

Education

  • Student Org Support
    • Reach out to student organizations and offer support as needed.
    • Host networking events with org leaders, and share resources
    • In consultation with CCE staff, lead community engagement initiatives (e.g., REACH).

  • Issue Area Context and Trainings
    • In collaboration with CCE staff, determine potential opportunities for developing education-based trainings (e.g., trauma informed care), mentoring trainings (e.g., providing mentorship closure) and/or resources that provide needed context (e.g., panels focused on education policy).

  • Advising, Tabling & Outreach
    • Advise students interested your respective issue areas, providing information on how to successfully engage
    • In collaboration with CCE staff, develop a regular rhythm for tabling to promote volunteer opportunities in your issue areas
    • Attend volunteer fairs to promote your issue areas
    • Determine the pre-requisites / orientation needs at the respective organizations for volunteers, and ensure students have the needed information to participate
    • Attend volunteer orientations to welcome students (e.g., “The CCE is here to help you.”), and greet organization staff
    • Ensure all new volunteers have successfully watched the “New Volunteer” orientation video
    • In collaboration with the communications team, develop a communications plan (paper flyers, Dflyers, SpiderBytes, routine newsletters, etc.)

CCE-wide Responsibilities

  • Support the drop-in advising process for all civically engaged students, ensuring advisees receive issue-area specific information, as well as proper follow up and logistical support. This involves serving at least one shift as a peer advisor during CCE drop-in advising.
  • In collaboration with CCE staff and fellow program associates, support conceptualizing, planning, and executing CCE-wide, educational meetings
  • Serve on the student-fund review committee
  • On occasion, participate in ad-hoc projects such as data analysis (e.g., create, interpret and report survey results, and support assessment efforts)
  • Communicate student concerns to CCE staff

Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Previous experience facilitating meetings and/or leading group discussions
  • Previous experience in event planning and proficiency in written communication (mostly email)
  • Strong written communication skills and efficient use of time required
  • Attention to detail, task-management, and organization skills required

Work Hours

  • Office hours are based on the student’s schedule (approximately 6 hours a week)
  • Attend all relevant CCE meetings
  • Attend all weekly staff meetings
