About This Opportunity  

In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of the end-to-end Release Management lifecycle for the University’s Enterprise Applications. You will work within a highly collaborative team environment to coordinate release activities across multiple systems, ensuring robust testing, operational continuity, and strategic alignment with business needs. This position plays a key role in strengthening our environment and release practices, enabling stability, scalability, and continuous improvement across critical enterprise platforms. You will also lead a small team of system administrators, providing technical direction, prioritisation, and capability uplift.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop and implement Environment and Release strategy, principles, and practices to optimise efficiency and align investments with industry benchmarks.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of Oracle-PeopleSoft mid-tier production and non-production environments, ensuring compliance with UQ patching standards and optimising performance, security, scalability and integrations.

  • Leading release activities such as go-lives, readiness reviews, and post-verification testing.

  • Driving continuous improvement through automation, monitoring, and enhanced release processes.

About You   

You are an experienced Environment and Release Manager who thrives in complex environments and enjoys coordinating across technical, business, and project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. You are proactive, organised, and confident leading discussions, resolving issues, and driving continuous improvement across environments and release cycles. You bring both the technical depth and the interpersonal skills needed to influence, collaborate, and deliver consistently.

  • Relevant degree in IT, business, or related field—or equivalent experience/training.

  • 5+ years’ release management experience, ideally with Agile exposure.

  • Experience delivering technical releases in large, complex organisations.

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles.

  • Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.

  • Clear, confident communicator who builds strong relationships across all levels.

  • Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently.

  • Desirable: Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Atlassian tools, test management platforms, SIAM, and IT incident management. 

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, etc.
