About This Opportunity

The Children’s Health and Environment Program investigates how environmental exposures affect child health, with a strong focus on real-world, community-based research. The program works across established cohorts and new field studies, combining environmental epidemiology with extensive fieldwork, community engagement, and translation to support communities during environmental health events.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Environmental Epidemiology team and build their expertise in air pollution epidemiology and environmental health within a supportive, hands-on research environment. The role is particularly suited to a recent PhD graduate who is keen to develop an emerging research profile while working closely with communities, frontline stakeholders, and experienced researchers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Develop an emerging research profile in environmental health, contribute to high-quality research outputs through publications and presentations, participate in fieldwork and community engagement activities, collaborate on research projects and funding applications, apply best-practice research methodologies, and support research translation to end users.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, supervise research support staff as appropriate, provide guidance and mentoring, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.

  • Citizenship and Service: Demonstrate behaviours aligned with UQ values, actively participate in unit priorities and internal service roles, support colleagues and unit operations as required, contribute to committees and administrative processes, and build relationships with external partners including industry, government and community stakeholders.
