Assist incoming freshmen in the ACE Program by serving as a positive role model, leading activities, and supporting their transition to college life. Ideal for students with strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

  1. Serve as a positive and readily available role model by assisting incoming freshmen with introduction to and participation in ACE and campus activities – C, TW, CT, L
  2. Coordinate, plan, and conduct small group sessions and activities for 25 incoming freshman participants during the ACE JUMPSTART program the week prior to the start of classes – C, TW, P, CT, L, T
  3. Be knowledgeable and willing to speak with faculty, staff, students, and prospective students about the ACE Program and their role as a peer mentor – C, TW, P, CT, L, T
  4. Assist incoming ACE students with all aspects of their college career by staying in contact once per week and meeting face to face once per month – C, TW, P, CT, L, T

Work Schedule: Varies depending on student availability. Sunday & Saturday: No hours. Monday - Friday: Varies depending on workload. Must be available for training and work two weeks prior to the start of classes (move-in August 11, Jump Start August 14–18).

Work Conditions: Heat, cold, wetness, humidity.

Physical Demands: Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, carrying up to 10 lbs.

Number of Positions: 4

Pay Rate: $10/hour for weekly work after school starts; $100/day stipend during Jump Start

Application Notes: Peer Mentors begin training and work two weeks prior to the start of classes to assist with the JUMP START program. Preference given to students who have completed 60 semester hours and are in good academic and social standing (GPA of 3.0 or better). If it is determined that you meet the required qualifications, your application materials will be used to identify a top group of the most highly qualified candidates.
