Part-time Professor—Long Term Appointment: This position is for a five (5) year contract with six (6) courses (18 credits) to be taught each year in the areas of Mechanical Engineering and Multidisciplinary Design, and academic support duties to be determined. This contract may lead to an open-ended contract.



The successful candidate must have a breadth of knowledge in all these fields and previous teaching experience in engineering mechanics, mechanical design, machine design, dynamics of machinery, advanced strength of materials, for courses up to the fourth-year level in the Mechanical Engineering and Bachelor of Multidisciplinary Design programs. The candidate must have engineering experience in an industrial setting.  Importantly, they must also be registered as professional engineers (PEng or Ing).  The number of hours is subject to change. Some courses are three credits (39 hours of lecture time), but may be remunerated for additional hours due to additional duties required with associated labs and/or tutorials.

Requirements:

Applicants must be licensed as a Professional Engineer. A doctorate in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering are required. Applicants must be able to teach in English. Applicants must possess sufficient design experience to be able to teach third- or fourth-year mechanical design and dynamics of machinery courses, in addition to experience teaching courses in the solid mechanics and design streams. Applicants must also have an excellent knowledge of teaching machine design and also professional experience in an industrial setting. Applicants must be able to supervise student projects.

This position is 50% in MCG and 50% in SEDTI
