Our team | Mō te tīma

Student Health Services (SHS) provide a full range of primary health care services for students at the University of Otago. We have an experienced team of GPs, Nurses, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Administration staff who provide approximately 45,000 appointments per annum. The large and diverse health team and the distinctive campus provide a stimulating and challenging multidisciplinary work environment.

The role | Te mahi

The successful applicant will join a multi-disciplinary primary health care team of medical, nursing, mental health and wellbeing and administrative staff at University of Otago Student Health Services. A focused, flexible and positive team approach to work is essential, along with an ability to work effectively in a busy but well-structured environment.  

The Nursing team currently consists of 12 staff who provide a broad range of primary care nursing practice including nurse prescribing. 
Our ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in the care of young adults and be able to provide high quality, comprehensive nursing health care to this group. If this sounds like you, we welcome your expression of interest.

Your skills and experience | Kā pūkeka me kā wheako

•    Registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand with a valid, appropriate Annual Practicing Certificate and Indemnity Insurance.
•    At least 2 years relevant experience.
•    Interest in care delivery for young adult population.
•    Collaborative, with the ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues.
•    Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
•    Effective communicator with the ability to write clear, user-friendly documentation for health purposes.
•    Competent in using technical health software, ability to easily grasp new processes and technologies.
•    Commitment and ability to work in a multi - disciplinary team.
•    Knowledge of and experience with applying the principles of Te Tiriti O Waitangi to enhance equity of health care outcomes. 
•    Commitment to ongoing quality improvement.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. 

Hours of work are rostered between 8.30am and 8.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am and 5pm Friday and will include at least one 12.30pm - 8.30pm shift per week during semester time.   

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.

The salary range for this role is $93,465 to $98,821 per annum. The successful candidate will be appointed on an appropriate step of the scale dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.
